This article is intended to provide instructors with an early preview to the August 2026 restructured Gradebook Grid View.

Blackboard has worked on reconfiguring the Gradebook to give instructors a reorganized layout and a new way to manage grading tasks. The following items have been reorganized within the Gradebook:

- **Layout and Navigation:** Instructors will be presented with a new Grade Details panel. The panel allows instructors to view and edit grading information and actions in one location.
- **Grade entry workflow **
- **Posting Grades **
- **Location and workflow of exceptions, exemptions, and accommodations. **

## Restructured Gradebook Details:

- Gradebook Views:
- **Filtering the Gradebook: **Found only within the Gridv iew, instructors can filter their Gradebook by students, groups, categories, and more.
- **To Do:** Instructors will not have a “To Do” list located in the top right of their Gradebook. The To Do list identify items that need grading and or posting.
- **Submissions:** Submissions are now indicated by a purple dot from within the Grid view.
- Grading Features:
  - **Editing an entire grade column:** By hovering the cursor between the grade item and student grade, instructors can click a pencil icon to edit all grades within the column. Users can then use the keyboard arrow keys to move down the student list.
  - **Grade Details: **To view grade details, click on a student’s assignment grade. A Grades Detail panel will appear on the right side. Instructors can view submissions, post individual grades, provide notes and feedback, and view accommodations.
    - To move from student to student, instructors can use the up or down arrow on the Grade Details panel or their keyboard.
    - To view additional assignments by one student, instructors can use the right and left arrows on the Grade Details panel or their keyboard.
  - **Gradebook Settings: **
    - The Gradebook settings icon is still located in the top right, but slightly smaller in size. Instructors can now choose First Name, Last Name or Last Name, First Name. Additionally, Student ID can be toggled on or off.
    - Export/Import: Instructors will find the export and import gradebook option within Gradebook Settings.
  - **Assessment Details Panel: **Similar to the assignment panel, when selecting an assessment an Assessment Details panel will appear on the right side. Instructors can view a wide variety of details such as results, submissions, analytics, settings, and student activity.
  - Deleting Items: To delete an item, ‘Delete Item’ is now more prominent. After instructors click ‘Delete’, they will be met with an additional confirmation window.
