This article is intended to assist instructors with creating and using a rubric within VoiceThread assignments. 

Prior to adding a rubric to a VT assignment, instructors will need to build a [watch](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TL/pages/27467841543), [create](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TL/pages/27467841576), or [comment ](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TL/pages/28517040142)assignment. 


## Creating a VT Rubric:

1. After choosing the type of assignment and participation requirements, instructors will begin inputting the details of the assignment (name, due dates, etc.). Under ‘Assessment', select **Use a rubric. **
2. Click **Rubric Options. **
3. From the pop-up window, click **Create rubric.**
4. Next, **Create a name** for the rubric, **assessment type** (percentage, complete/incomplete, or points), **provide students with access to the rubric**, and determine the **rubric type** (Automatically calculate grades or manually calculate grades).
5. Click **Save and continue. **
6. On the Rubric Builder page, instructors can begin customizing the assignment rubric by adding rows and columns, along with editing the points and criteria.
7. After saving the rubric, return back to the assignment tab.
8. Publish the VoiceThread.

## Grading with a Rubric on VT:

1. To being, click into the VT assignment from within the HuskyCT Course Content page.
2. Select on the submitted assignment.
3. To grade using the rubric, click on the criteria box that best fits their score.
4. If an instructor’s rubric is set to automatic scoring, the calculated grade will be assigned as the rubric criteria is selected. If an instructor’s rubric is set to instructor manually calculates grade, the instructor will need to find the sum of the rubric scores.
5. Instructors have the capability to adjust the fina score assigned from the rubric. To do so, select **Adjust grade. **
6. Instructors can add or deduct points, and provide a comment. **Click Save.**
7. When finished grading, click **Save Grade. **The graded assignment will appear under ‘Graded' on the VoiceThread assignment.
