Video Studio is another submission medium students have available for assignments.

You can use Video Studio to record and submit video, screen, and audio recordings.

## How to Recording Using Video Studio:

1. Click on the *camera icon* from the textbox in your course to open the *Audio/Video* options. You can find this in Discussion Topics, Assignments and in Tests.
  
2. This will open the **What would you like to record?** screen. Click on one of the purple icons to select the type of recording you want to make, or click on the **Upload from device **button at the bottom of the box and upload a file from your computer.
  
3. Select from one of the following to make your recording:

<details>
<summary>Camera</summary>

Use this option to record a video of yourself talking. No screensharing.

Use this option to use your Camera to record a video of yourself talking on screen. The camera icon is purple. This option does not use the screen option and grays that icon.

- The *Camera & Mic* buttons at the bottom of the screen allow you to select which camera and mic to use.
- Click on the *down arrow* next to the *Camera icon* and the *Mic icon* set up your camera and microphone settings.
- Click the red *Start recording* button in the upper right corner to start your recording.
- When finished, click the black *End recording* button in the upper right corner to stop the recording or hit *Pause recording* if you want to pause and *Resume recording* to continue your recording.

<summary>Audio</summary>

For audio recording only. No Camera or screensharing.

Use this option to record yourself talking. The mic icon will be purple. This option does not use the camera or screen options and grays out those icons.

- Click on the *down arrow* next to *Mic icon* and select the Mic you want to use.
- Click on the *Start recording* button in the upper right corner.
- When finished, click the black *End recording* button in the upper right corner to stop the recording or hit *Pause recording* if you want to pause and *Resume recording* to continue your recording.

<summary>Screen</summary>

Records your screen only. No audio. No Camera.

Use this option to record your screen only. The screen icon will be purple. This option does not use audio or a camera and grays out those icons.

- A box will open at the top for you to select which tab, window, or entire screen you want to record. Your options will include a choice of the programs or browser tabs you have open on your computer.
  - **Tab**: limits you to recording that one tab. You can't switch between tabs.
  - **Window**: allows you to display only one program or instance of a browser (though it will show all tabs of the selected browser as you go through them and make them active)
  - **Entire Screen**: is the most flexible option. This allows your to record anything that appears on that screen, and lets you switch between programs or browser tabs.
- After you select what you want to show, click the *Share *button and it will pull to the front the program/browser/window you want to record.
- Once everything is set up, click the red *Start recording* button at the top right. (You may need to navigate to the recording button because the screen you want to record maybe over the top of the instruction screen).
- When finished, click the black *End recording* button in the upper right corner to stop the recording  
or hit *Pause recording* if you want to pause and *Resume recording* to continue your recording.

Records your screen with audio. No camera.

Use the *Audio & Screen* option to record your voice during the screen share. The mic and screen icons will be purple. Click on the *down arrow* next to the *mic icon* to select your microphone. The camera option is grayed out and is not allowed for this. You can record a screen of a video playing, but it won’t record the audio of it, even though you have the mic recording. 

- A box will open at the top for you to select which tab, window, or entire screen you want to record. Your options will include a choice of the programs or browser tabs you have open on your computer.

  - **Window**: allows you to select one program or browser that is open. If it has multiple tabs (like a browser), you can switch between them. You switch to another program or browser.

Use the Video & Screen option to share your screen, speak, and turn on your camera. All three options will turn purple once you allow Blackboard to access your screen and select which tab or window to record. 

- A box will open at the top for you to select which tab, window, or entire screen you want to record.
  - **Tab**: limits you to recording that one tab. You can't switch between tabs.
  - **Window**: allows you to select one program or browser that is open. If it has multiple tabs (like a browser), you can switch between them. You switch to another program or browser.
  - **Entire Screen**: is the most flexible option. This allows your to record anything that appears on that screen, and lets you switch between programs or browser tabs.
- After you select what you want to show, click the *Share butto*n and it will pull to the front the program/browser/window you want to record.

<summary>Upload from device</summary>

Use this option to upload a video or audio file.

- Select *Upload from Device* from the *What would you like to record?* screen.
- Select a file from your computer.

- Once uploaded, you can give the recording a title, and then hit the *Save Video *button in the upper right corner.
- The recording will be inserted into the textbox for you to post to the discussion topic, assignment or test.

4. Once done recording:  Click on *End recording. *Once you finish your recording, you can give it a different title than the default title and then hit the *Save Video *button in the upper right corner.
5. Saving the video will input it into the textbox. Click on the Post/Submit button at the bottom to post your recording to the Discussion Topic, Assignment, or Test. If you want to save a draft of the post, click the Save Draft link to save it as a draft.
