This article is for instructors who wish to override grades on graded assessments items.


# **Overview**

Instructors can override a grade by manually entering a new score to replace the calculated grade on assessments or total columns.

<details>
<summary>Overriding grades from the Submission List</summary>

1. Navigate to the **Gradebook **in your [HuskyCT](https://huskyct.uconn.edu/ultra/) course
2. Select the **List **view
3. Click the assignment for which you want to override grades
4. Click the grading pill next to the student's information in the submission list. Enter the grade you wish to assign, then press Enter.
  
5. The updated grade will appear with the word 'Override' displayed beneath it

<summary>Overriding grades from the Grid View</summary>

1. Navigate to the **Gradebook **in your [HuskyCT](https://huskyct.uconn.edu/ultra/) course
2. Select the **Grid **view on the top
  
3. Navigate to the column of the assessment you want to override
4. Hover your mouse over the top center of the first cell in the column with the grade you want to override.
5. Click the pencil button and enter the grade you would like to assign. Click the check mark on the top of the column to save the overridden grade.

<summary>Overriding grades from the Submission View</summary>

1. Navigate to the **Gradebook **in your [HuskyCT](https://huskyct.uconn.edu/ultra/) course
2. Select the **List **view
3. Click the assignment for which you want to override grades
4. This opens the submissions list. Click on the student whose grade you want to override.
  To override the grade, click the ellipses in the right corner, then click “override final grade”
  A new pillbox appears beside the old grade pillbox. Enter the new grade and click enter on your keyboard. After pressing Enter, the grade will be successfully overridden.
  The term “override” will appear noting the grade has been overridden.

<summary>Overriding Overall Grade</summary>

1. Navigate to the **Gradebook **in your [HuskyCT](https://huskyct.uconn.edu/ultra/) course
2. Select the **Grid **view on the top
3. Click the grading pill for the student in the Overall Grade column
  
4. Enter the grade you want to assign, then press Enter to apply the override
  
5. The updated grade will appear in the gray colored pill
