This page is for instructors who want to add calculation rules in their [Overall Grade](https://kb.uconn.edu/space/TL/26290028669) settings.

# **Overview**

- Instructors can apply calculation rules within the Overall Grade and Total Calculation
- Instructors can drop scores or include only specific ones by adding calculation rules within a category.
- The Proportionally vs. Equally option in the Overall Grade settings determines how grades within a category are weighted. Depending on the selected option, grades with equal, higher, or lower weights may be dropped or included.
  - Equal weighting gives each item equal weight when determining the composite grade
  - Proportional weighting gives more influence to items with higher point values on the overall grade
