This article is for instructors who want to control the visibility status of assessment items for students in Ultra Course View.


##  **Overview**

- Instructors/TAs can make assessments and Gradebook columns visible or hidden for students.
- Assessment and column visibility is linked:
  - If an assessment is hidden/visible, the corresponding Gradebook column is also hidden/visible.
- When course assessments are hidden, students will not be able to view or access them from Course Content.
- When Gradebook columns are hidden, students will not see them listed from their Gradebook tab.
- Instructors/TAs can use [Release Conditions ](https://kb.uconn.edu/space/TL/26042992794)to limit the visibility and access to students based on specified criteria.

<summary>Showing and Hiding Assessments from Course Content  </summary>

1. Navigate to the **Course Content. **

2. Locate the assessment that you want make visible/hidden.

3. Click on the **eye icon **or** **visibility status**.**
4. Select the desired visibility status.
5. When the content is not visible to students, there will be a dash through the icon. When it is visible, the dash will not appear.

<summary>Showing and Hiding Assessments from the Gradebook</summary>

1. Navigate to the **Gradebook.**
  1. From the*** *****Grid **view :
    1. Click on the content you want to hide/show.
  2. From*** ***the **List **view :
    1. Click the column's content title, then click the title again in Assessment Details
      
2. On the top right, click on the **eye icon.**
3. Choose either “Visible to students” or “Hidden from students”.
4. After returning to the Gradebook view, you will see the changes you made reflected on the icon of the content you showed/hid.
