This article is intended for instructors looking to input grades for assessment items/columns that do not have student submissions.

# **Overview**

In Ultra, graded assessments can be divided into two types.

1. Assessments that require students demonstrate learning and/or make submissions via course assessments tools (Assignments, Discussions, Journals, etc.).
2. Assessments in which students demonstrate their achievement of learning outcomes beyond the Ultra course.

For assessments that don’t have online submissions, or are evaluated/calculated externally (i.e., using Excel), grades can be manually input in the Gradebook following the instructions below.

# **Entering Grades in a Gradable Item**

1. Navigate to your course in HuskyCT.
2. On the top navigation menu, click the **Gradebook** tab.
3. Then click on the grid view .
4. Locate the item you want to enter grades for, and click on the item’s name.
5. You will see a list of your students.
6. Here you can enter the scores and provide feedback to students.
  1. To input a score, click on the grading pill, under the **Grade** heading.
  2. To provide feedback, click **Add Feedback** under the **Feedback** heading.
7. After the grades and feedback have been entered, they need to be Posted for students to see them. See [Posting Grades in Ultra Course View](https://kb.uconn.edu/space/TL/26058752577/Posting+Grades+in+Ultra+Course+View) for additional detail.
  1. Individual grades can be posted by clicking the **Post** button.
  2. To post all grades/feedback for this assessment simultaneously, click **Post All Grades. **
    
8. If you are not ready for the grades to be visible to students, you can wait to post until you are ready.
