Ultra course view provides course content tools that instructors/course designers can use to add instructional content, assessments, and other learning and engagement tools.
# **Overview**
This page provides general information about the different types of course content and assessment tools available in Ultra courses.
- All of the tools detailed below can be created from the **Course Content tab **(the course landing page) by accessing the “Create” menu.

# **Course Content Items**
Content Items are course tools instructors can use to add/organize content/learning materials for students.
Learning Modules
Learning modules (and folders) can be used to contain/organize other content in Ultra. Learning modules are designed to be at 1st level of course organization and offer more advanced features than folders.

Folders
Folders can be used to contain/organize other content in Ultra. Folders can contain other nested folders, however folders cannot contain Learning modules.
Documents
The Document tool can be used to flexibly create/design non-graded learning content, resources, files, links, embedded Kaltura videos, etc.

Links
The Link tool can be used to add direct web links to any web resource/media. They can also be used to link to other course items.
- Instructors can use Links to post their [course syllabus](https://kb.uconn.edu/space/TL/26043678836/Adding+and+Managing+the+Course+Syllabus+in+Ultra+Course+View) as an online OneDrive document.
1. Controls the visibility of the item
2. The URL where the web link will point. In other words, the content that students will access when the click on the link.
Teaching Tool with LTI Connection
The Teaching Tool with LTI Connection allows instructors to add tool links to a course for LTI tools such as Perusall.
1. Controls the visibility of the item
2. The link to the tool. Instructors can find this link in either our or the provider's documentation.
3. Additional options for the tool link, including adding a gradebook entry to allow instructors to assess students using the tool.
SCORM Package
SCORM Package allows instructors to add content that is available as a SCORM Package. If you have a SCORM package from an external source, such as a textbook provider, you can import it using this option.

# **Assessments**
Ultra provides tools to assess student learning including Tests, Assignments, and Forms.
Tests
The Test tool is allows instructors to create and administer exams. Instructors can add questions, set time limits, and require online proctoring. Assignments
The Assignment tool is a graded assessment that requires students to submit their work in various formats (i.e,. text, file attachments, web links, Kaltura videos, etc). Forms

# **Participation and Engagement**
Ultra also provides tools that promote interactive learning beyond traditional exams and assignments. The tools can be graded/ungraded assessments.
Cloud Collaboration
Through Cloud Collaboration, instructors can create collaborative documents and a variety of assignments using Microsoft Education. Discussion

Journal
The Journal tool allows instructors to create private spaces for students to self-reflect with an ongoing format. Journal responses are only visible to the authors and instructors/TAs. AI Conversation
Instructors can create AI Conversations based around a topic or scenario to enhance student engagement. For a comprehensive guide on using the AI Conversation tool, see:
