<span style="color: #172b4d">This article is for students who are receiving the error message, "There is a problem with the settings for this exam" while using LockDown Browser. This issue occurs when </span><span style="color: #333333">the course is a copy of another course </span><span style="color: #172b4d">(your instructor will know if this is the case)</span><span style="color: #333333">, and the instructor has not yet opened the LockDown Browser Dashboard in the copied course. The sections below provide several </span><span style="color: #172b4d">methods for resolving this issue. </span>

## Resolution 1: Using the Fix It Tool

1. Log into the course.
2. Access the **Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard**. To do so,
  1. Click **Course** **Management.**
  2. Click **Course Tools. **
  3. Select **Respondus LockDown Browser.**
3. If any exams are listed with an error on the dashboard, click **Fix it**. Doing so will correct any errors associated with exam settings.

If you still receive the same **There was a problem...** error after deleting personal settings, proceed to **Resolution 2. **

## Resolution 2: Resetting Your Personal Settings

1. Click on the **Start Menu** icon.
2. Access the** Control Panel. **
3. Select **Network and Internet. **
4. Select **Internet Options. **
  1. On the **Security** tab, ensure that your settings are set to <u>no higher than</u> **medium**.
  2. On the **Advanced** tab, click **Reset** under **Reset Internet Explorer Settings**.
5. In the window that opens, select **Delete Personal Settings. **
6. Click on the **Reset** button.   
:cross_mark: Warning: Deleting personal settings will impact all your web browsers – not just Internet Explorer.
7. Restart your computer.

If you still receive the same **There was a problem...** error after deleting personal settings, proceed to **Resolution 3. **

## Resolution 3: Checking for Blocks on Your PC

If neither **Resolution 1 **nor **Resolution 2** cleared the error,<span style="color: #333333"> there may be a block elsewhere on your PC (in your firewall or anti-virus software) or in the ISP/network you are using.  </span>

<span style="color: #333333">To determine if this is the case, click the </span><span style="color: #333333">**Help Center**</span><span style="color: #333333"> icon in the </span><span style="color: #333333">**LockDown**</span><span style="color: #333333"> </span><span style="color: #333333">**Browser**</span><span style="color: #333333"> toolbar. </span>

Additionally, you can try:

- Using the computer on a different network
- Using a different computer (that also has LockDown Browser installed) on your main network
