Students, faculty, and staff can record and stream a presentation using Kaltura. 

# Recording Options

### Kaltura Self-Service Lecture Capture

This enhanced self-service capability for the Kaltura Lecture Capture (KLC) service allows instructors to record and publish audio and screen captures from their courses without making previous arrangements with ITS’s Academic IT staff.  

### Self-Service Recording 

This tool enables presenters to perform ad-hoc recordings in high-tech classrooms and retrieve their files from UConn’s KLC online portal. This capability is included in the standard classroom technology package.

### Self-Service Live Streaming

This new tool allows presenters to share content in real-time. No advance notice is required. Self-service live streaming is available in classrooms that have **All** or **Self-Service Recording** listed in the lecture capture column of the [classroom directory.](https://classrooms.uconn.edu/classroom-directory/)

## Additional Recording Options

### Desktop Lecture Capture

In addition to the room-based systems, ITS also supports [Kaltura Capture](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TL/pages/10758194690). **Kaltura Capture **is desktop-recording software that you can install on your computer to record lectures.

### Lightboard

Lightboard is a specialized recording room with a transparent panel that allows instructors to face their audience while writing content on the screen. This room has recently been upgraded to enhance ease of use. ### HBL 3110 

There is a recording room located in **HBL 3110** that can be reserved for recordings. It is outfitted with a high-quality microphone, camera, and computer to record with. Please visit the [room page](https://ait.uconn.edu/hbl3110/) for more information and reservations.

# Live Streaming

### Kaltura Self-Service Live Streaming

This enhanced self-service capability of the Kaltura Lecture Capture (KLC) service enables instructors to live stream video, audio, and screen captures from their courses. Previously, instructors had to reserve specific video conference-enabled rooms and coordinate recordings with ITS’s Academic IT staff. With the Kaltura Live Stream service, instructors can perform ad hoc live streams in high-tech classrooms and also be recorded to their KLC online portal. No advance notice is required to use the self-service KLC.

To find rooms with Kaltura Self-Service live streaming, search the **lecture capture** heading on the page listed below and look for rooms identified as **All**.

Direct users who will watch your stream to the [Live Streaming](https://ait.uconn.edu/live-streaming/) page and choose the associated room for your event. Please note that your event will not show on the calendar unless scheduling was coordinated with AIT.
