A Comma Separated Values (CSV) file is *a plain text file that stores data by delimiting data entries with commas *or some other specified delimiter. In the case of Boomi, a csv can also be a fixed position file. CSV is integral to many integration patterns and Boomi uses flat file profiles for the management of CSV formatted data. Please refer to Boomi’s documentation on [Flat File Profiles](https://help.boomi.com/bundle/integration/page/c-atm-Flat_file_profiles.html) to get a broader understanding and learn to more easily import data elements.
