Advisors can assign a service indicator in the Student Administration System. 

> ⚠️ <span style="color: #333333">A negative service indicator, or advising hold, can be assigned to a student which will restrict enrollment until the hold is removed. The negative service indicator button will display on all pages in the system for that individual.</span>

1. Click the **NavBar** icon in the top right-hand corner.
2. Click the **Navigator** button from the menu.
3. Click the **Self Service** tab.
4. Click the** Advisor Center** tab.

5. Click the **My Advisees** tab. The **My Advisees **page will display.
6. <span style="color: #333333">Click the </span>**View Student Details **link <span style="color: #333333">to see an advisee's </span>**Student Center**<span style="color: #333333">.</span>

7. From the **Student Center**, select the **General Info** tab to display the Service Indicators page.
8. Select the **Edit Service Indicators** button. <span style="color: #333333">The </span>**Manage Service Indicators**<span style="color: #333333"> page will display.</span>
9. <span style="color: #333333">Click the </span>**Add Service Indicator**<span style="color: #333333"> link. </span>

10. Enter **ENR** in the **Service Indicator Code** field. Alternatively, you can click the search button to select the code. This indicates that enrollment is restricted.

11. Enter **ADVIS** in the** Reason Code** field. Alternatively, you can click the search button to select the reason. This indicates that advising is required.<span style="color: #333333"> </span>
  1. If a hold already exists for the selected student, the negative service indicator icon will display at the top of the record. If a hold exists, you must:
    1. Click **Add**.
    2. Continue with the steps below.

12. <span style="color: #333333">Enter the term in which the enrollment restriction will be in effect in the </span>**Start Term **<span style="color: #333333">field. If you do not know the term code,</span>
  1. <span style="color: #333333">Click the search button. </span>
  2. <span style="color: #333333">Click </span><span style="color: #333333">**Lookup**</span><span style="color: #333333">. </span>
  3. <span style="color: #333333">Select the desired term from the list. </span>
    1. The Active date is the date the hold becomes active. You may change it if necessary.
13. <span style="color: #333333">Enter an appropriate contact ID for your department, if desired. The </span>**Contact Person**<span style="color: #333333"> field will populate based on the Contact ID selected. To locate a contact ID, </span>
  1. <span style="color: #333333">Click the </span><span style="color: #333333">**Search**</span><span style="color: #333333"> button. </span>
  2. <span style="color: #333333">Narrow the search by Campus ID and/or name. </span>
  3. <span style="color: #333333">Click </span>**Lookup**<span style="color: #333333"> to select the contact from the resulting list.</span>
14. <span style="color: #333333">The ID and name of the person placing the hold will automatically appear in the</span><span style="color: #333333">** Placed Person ID **</span><span style="color: #333333">and </span><span style="color: #333333">**Placed By **</span><span style="color: #333333">fields. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.</span>
  1. <span style="color: #333333">Click </span><span style="color: #333333">**OK. **</span>
  2. <span style="color: #333333">Click </span><span style="color: #333333">**Apply**</span><span style="color: #333333">.</span>
