## **Overview**

Flags in Jira Assets are special indicators used to track the status or condition of an asset. They help IT teams and asset owners quickly identify which items require attention, updates, or verification.

Currently, three flags are in use:

1. **Flagged for Correction**
2. **OS Upgrade Needed**
3. **Asset Marked Confirmed**

This article provides definitions and best practices for using these flags effectively.

## **1. Flagged for Correction**

This flag indicates that there is incorrect, outdated, or incomplete information associated with the asset. It signals that someone must review and correct the data.

### ✅ **When True:**

- Server owner or Business Owner information is missing
- VMWare VM Link / Azure VM Link is Missing **{If this Server is not a Virtual Machine please be sure that this Server has been assigned the Physical Server tag}**

### 📌 **Next Steps:**

- **After the data above has been resolved the Flagged for Correction Field will automatically change back to False the next Monday. **

## **2. OS Upgrade Needed**

Used to identify assets that are running outdated or unsupported operating systems. This helps with prioritizing lifecycle upgrades and maintaining compliance.

### ✅ **When to Use:**

- Asset is running an OS version nearing end-of-support (e.g., Windows Server 2012)

📌 **Next Steps:**

- Plan and execute an OS upgrade for the flagged asset.
- Coordinate with system admins and service owners.
- Remove the flag once the upgrade is completed and documented.

---

## **3. Asset Marked Confirmed**

### ✅ **Purpose:**

This flag certifies that the asset has been reviewed and its information is up-to-date and accurate. It’s a verification step, often done as part of periodic audits.

### ✅ **When to Use:**

- Asset has been reviewed during quarterly or annual audits
- All required fields are populated accurately
- Ownership, tagging, and classification have been verified

### 📌 **Next Steps:**

- If the Data is incorrect update data Inside Jira Assets
- If the Server is no longer needed submit a decommission form.
