Students, faculty, and staff can add their YubiKey to their Microsoft as well as <u>[their Duo account](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10736632690)</u>. ITS Staff who have an administrative role in Microsoft 365 are required to use Microsoft MFA. 

> ⚠️ To use a security with you university account, it must meet the FIDO2 specification. “YubiKeys” by Yubico are recommended: [Compatible YubiKeys](https://support.yubico.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016648959-YubiKey-Hardware-FIDO2-AAGUIDs)

## Enroll in Microsoft MFA with a FIDO2 Security Key

> ✅ An existing Microsoft MFA method is required to enroll a security key.

1. Ensure you have a PIN set for your YubiKey Passkey: [Set YubiKey Pin](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/29096443905)
2. Navigate to [https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info](https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info)   
You may be prompted to sign into your Microsoft account when visiting this link. After successful sign in, you may be redirected to another page. If you were asked to sign in, please revisit this guide and click on the link above to ensure that you are brought to the correct page.
3. If you do not have an existing Microsoft MFA configuration, you will only see Password as a listed method.
  If you need to add another MFA device in order to add you security key as stated above, click on “Add sign-in method” and choose “Authenticator app”. 4. Click on “Add sign-in method”.
5. Choose “Passkey” from the list of options.
6. If the popup windows says “Sign in faster with your face, fingerprint, or PIN” click on “Next”
7. If you are asked to “Turn on Bluetooth”, instead click on “Change”
8. Click on “Security key”.
9. Enter a passcode for your security key.  
You will need to enter this passcode and then tap on your security key to complete the authentication process at login.
10. Continue through the prompts and give your key an appropriate name.

The next time you sign-in to a Microsoft service with your admin account, you will be prompted for your password. Choose the “Use your face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key instead” option to use your security key. After doing so, you will be prompted to use your security key on subsequent logins by default.
