Currently, it is not possible to block a user who is inside our organization (UConn). It is possible to block an external user (UCHC, Foundation, public) with a block function in Teams. It is however possible to simulate a block with internal users. Follow along below to learn how.

## Block an internal user

This “block” is a blocking of direct messages. Find your existing chat with this user and click on the ellipsis open to open the context menu. Click on **Mute** to prevent notifications and then click on **Hide** to hide this user from your list of conversations.

## Block an external user

Find your existing chat with this user and click on the ellipsis open to open the context menu. Click on **Block** to block them.
