UConn faculty, staff, and students can install OneDrive on their Mac for free by following this guide.

> ℹ️ OneDrive on MacOS will not automatically back up any existing files/folders on your computer. Once your Mac is linked to OneDrive, there will be a OneDrive folder visible in Finder, move any files/folders you wish to back up into this new folder.

### Adding OneDrive to your Mac

1. Open the App Store and search for **OneDrive**. Click on **Get** then **Install**.
2. Once OneDrive has installed, click **Open** in the App Store window. You may close the App Store after OneDrive opens.
3. Sign into the app with your UConn email address and NetID password.
4. Next, we will tell OneDrive where to live on your computer. This is where your files will reside while you’re working on them. Click on **Choose OneDrive Folder Location**.
5. The Finder window will default to your User (NetID) folder. This is an appropriate location. Reach out to [techsupport@uconn.edu](mailto:techsupport@uconn.edu) if you think you need to change this location.
6. After clicking **Choose this location**, you will see the resulting file path (or “location on your storage drive”, below you will see OneDrive is saving in the Users folder, and then inside my specific User folder). Click **Next**.
7. Click **Next** as you make your way through the OneDrive prompts. Each prompt will give you a little information about how OneDrive works. Note that you do not need to download the phone app when asked.
8. Be sure to allow “OneDrive.app” to “start syncing”. Click **Ok**.
9. You are now done!
10. Optional: To view the sync progress, click on the cloud icon in the top menu bar to see the status of your OneDrive App. Note that this initial sync will take a few minutes.

> ℹ️ If your files were recently migrated from your P: drive, check the folder named **PDrive** to find those files.

### Adding a Second Account

1. Click on the cloud icon in the top menu bar.
2. Click on the settings cog and then **Preferences**.
3. In the popup window, click on the **Account** tab.
4. Click on **Add an account**.
