<summary>I have a Huawei phone or other Android device that cannot access the Google Play Store, preventing me from downloading Duo. What should I do?</summary>

Some phones, such as those manufactured by Huawei, cannot access Google Play Services, which includes the Play Store. To bypass this limitation, please follow [these instructions](https://help.duo.com/s/article/2211?language=en_US) from the Duo website to learn how to sideload the app onto your phone. This will replace the step where you install Duo Mobile from the Google Play Store.

> 📝 This process only works for phones running the Android operating system. iPhones cannot sideload apps.

<summary>What happens if I don't set up Duo?</summary>

If you do not set up the Duo Mobile app, you will not be able to use any UConn system that uses the NetID single sign-on. This includes, but is not limited to, HuskyCT, Student Admin, CoreCT, Lockdown Browser, Microsoft 365, and classroom computers.

Your data on these systems will not be affected, you simply will not be able to sign in and access it until you complete your Duo Mobile setup.

<summary>Duo push is asking me for a set of three numbers now. When did this start and why?</summary>

ITS is enhancing the security of Duo push notifications by implementing Duo Verified Push on December 19, 2024. After this change, you will enter the three-digit code on your login screen into the notification from your Duo Mobile app.

With the traditional Duo push notifications, you click either “Approve” or “Deny.” Bad actors, however, can exploit this basic method and trick users into accepting a push for a fraudulent login attempt. They might, for example, take advantage of “push fatigue” and hope that a user will approve a push out of habit. Another technique is to annoy users with repeated push notifications until they finally accept one.

Duo Verified Push provides better protection against these scams. By entering a code that only you can see, you ensure that only you can successfully authenticate.

<summary>My iPhone/iPad keeps freezing on Duo 2FA. How can I fix this?</summary>

When trying to sign into a service that requires Duo 2FA from an iPhone or iPad, users who use that same device for Duo verification may open the Duo app to verify the sign-in attempt. After returning to their original app (Safari, etc.), they may see that the page is still waiting for the 2FA verification, even though they just completed it.

Usually, waiting enough time will eventually allow the verification to be detected and your sign-in will continue as normal. However, you can follow these instructions to avoid the problem in the future.

1. Begin your login process and proceed to the point where you are prompted to act on the Duo push notification. Make note of the 3-digit code on-screen.
2. When the Duo notification slides down from the top of your screen, instead of tapping on it, **hold it down or swipe it down** to open the quick action view.
3. Enter the 3-digit code into the **Verification code** text box, then tap **Approve**.

> ℹ️ The issue does not appear to occur on devices running iOS 18.2 or newer. Be sure to keep your device fully up-to-date by checking for available updates in the Settings app.

> ⚠️ If you have a Focus mode enabled (Do Not Disturb), the Duo prompt may not appear automatically. To find it, you will have to swipe down from the top of your screen to open up the notification center. Then **hold down** on the Duo notification to take action.
