Outlook on Microsoft 365 is the official email application for all faculty and staff at the University.

## What is Modern Authentication?

Modern Authentication is a form of identity management that provides secure user authentication. It provides Microsoft 365 the ability to issue and validate authentication and refresh tokens for email clients like Outlook. Modern authentication is supported on Office versions of 2016 and higher.

Once enabled, the sign-in screen and process will change. Outlook will display this mini browser to lead the user through the authentication workflow:

Sign in with your official University email address (firstname.lastname@uconn.edu) and your NetID password.
