Staff can manage, create, and view Assets in Nessus.

## Asset Overview

Assets in Nessus are groups of IPs, Organizational Units, DNS Names, or other collections that allow Nessus to scan specific groups of objects. This allows you to group objects however you would like, making it easier to manage your scans. To start, click the **Assets** link across the top of Nessus. You will be brought to a list of Assets that have already been created.

## Viewing an Asset

1. Clicking directly on any of the Assets in the Asset List will bring you to the **Edit** screen, where you can view and edit the Name/Description/Tag/IP List:
2. If you click on the **small gear** on the right side of the Asset, you will be presented with a menu of options. From here, you can choose to View, Edit, Share, Export, and Delete the Asset.

## Creating an Asset

1. Click on the **+ Add** button in the top right-hand corner. You will be brought to the **Add Asset** screen with Templates available to choose from.

  1. The most commonly used Templates are **Static IP List **and **DNS Name List, **which provide a simple entry box to enter either IP or DNS names of servers. These options are recommended.

2. You will be brought to the **Asset Creation **screen, which requires some information; enter the name of your Asset, a brief description if needed, and the DNS Names of the servers you would like to be part of the Asset. The Tag section can be ignored.
3. When you are all done, click **Submit** to create the Asset.
