Tenable's Nessus Security Center is the software that UConn uses for vulnerability management, in addition to patch auditing, host discovery, and a host of other features. This article is intended for staff who use Nessus to manage vulnerabilities and patching for their respective departments.

## Initial Sign On

To access Nessus, head to [nessus.uits.uconn.edu](https://nessus.uits.uconn.edu) and log in with your NetID credentials.

Upon signing in, you will be greeted with your current default **Dashboard**. There is a good chance it will not be the same dashboard as below; however, the menu across the top will remain the same.

> ℹ️ There are a large amount of Dashboards within Nessus, and you can even build your own Dashboard to get the exact information that you need. ## Managing and Viewing your Dashboards

1. On the top right-hand side of the screen, click **Options** and select **Manage Dashboards** from the drop-down menu.
2. Under **Manage Dashboards,** find the one that is relevant to your needs. Notice how the pushpin is grayed out; click it, and it will turn blue like the others. This pins the dashboard to your list, so you can quickly access it.
3. At the top menu, select **Dashboard **to reveal a drop-down menu, and then click on **Dashboard **to return to the main page.
4. On the top right-hand side of the screen, click **Switch Dashboards**. From the drop-down menu, select the dashboard that you pinned in the previous step from the pull-down menu. Your dashboard will now change to the dashboard you selected.
5. To set the dashboard as your default dashboard, click the **Options** menu on the right-hand side, and then choose **Set as Default.**

## Refreshing Dashboard Data

Every dashboard is programmed to update once a day. You may need to manually refresh the modules during the day in order to update your data. Click on the **gear** on the right-hand side of the module you would like to update, and choose **Refresh**.
