Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) can be created directly in SharePoint, or any of the Office 365 apps that you’re signed in to. Files created in SharePoint can be collaborated on with other members of that SharePoint site.

## Creating a Document in SharePoint in Your Browser

1. Open SharePoint in your browser.
2. Locate and open your SharePoint site.
3. Select the **Documents** tab in the left side-panel.
4. Navigate to the folder you want to create the document in.
5. Click **New** in the top toolbar and select the type of file you want to create.


## Creating a Document in an Office 365 Application

You can create new documents and save them to SharePoint directly from an Office 365 application such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

1. Create a new Office file (e.g. a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file).
2. Click the **Save** icon in the top left.
3. Click **More Options**.
4. Select **Sites - University of Connecticut** and choose the SharePoint site you wish to save to.
  
5. Use the file explorer to navigate to the location you want to save the document in that SharePoint site.
6. Click **Save**.
