<span style="color: #172b4d">Faculty and staff can manually sync policy for their workstations in the Software Center. Doing so will prompt the workstation to check for new software, thereby shortening the deployment time.</span>

> ℹ️ Software Center is a component of Microsoft’s Endpoint Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr), which enables Information Technology Services (ITS) to deploy and update applications, security updates, and operating systems for computers in the Managed Workstation Service.

> 📝 The computer must be connected via Ethernet to the UConn network, connected to UCONN-SECURE or on VPN, otherwise these steps will not work.

## Accessing Software Center

Enter “Software Center” in the search bar at the bottom of the screen and select **Open.**

Alternatively, 

1. Click **Start**.
2. Select **Microsoft Endpoint Manager**.
3. Click **Software Center**.

## Manually Syncing Policy

Faculty and Staff on University Managed workstations can force Software Center to check for software and other policy updates.

### Manually Syncing Policy via Control Panel

1. Open the Control Panel
  1. In Windows Search, enter “Control Panel” and click **Open** under the **Control Panel** app
  2. Alternatively, Open the start menu, click **Windows Tools**, then an explorer window will open, click **Control Panel**.
2. Click **Systems and Security **
3. Click **Configuration Manager **
4. A small window will appear
5. Click the **Actions** tab
6. Select **Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle** and click **Run**
7. Select **User Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle** and click **Run**
8. Finally, select **Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle** and click **Run**
9. Re-open Software Center

### Manually Syncing Policy via Software Center

If you do not see the software you are looking for in Software Center, you can use the steps below to **Sync Policy. **This will check the servers for anything new, such as applications, software updates, or operating systems.

1. Open **Software Center**.
2. Click **Options** in the left-hand column.
3. Click to expand the **Computer Maintenance **options.
4. Click **Sync Policy.**
