Students, faculty, and staff can modify default audio input/output settings on macOS. 

## Using the Audio MIDI Setup App

1. Use **Spotlight** to search for **Audio MIDI Setup**.
2. Click **Audio MIDI Setup **to launch the app. Alternatively,
  1. Navigate to `Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup.app`
  2. Launch the **Audio MIDI Setup **app. A list of the audio devices connected to your computer for both input and output will then appear.

Select the **Format **drop-down menu.

1. You will see a list of the different formats your device is capable of including frequency, bit depth, and number of channels. Select your desired format.

> ⚠️ After modifying the default audio format, restart any applications that are still running and using the audio device.
