This article shows how to add a shared mailbox in its own profile in the Outlook (Classic) desktop client. Adding a shared inbox in a separate mail profile in Outlook will keep sent and received messages in the shared mailbox folders, rather than displaying them alongside or combined with your personal Outlook profile emails.

Having a shared mailbox with its own Outlook profile also ensures functions like Mail Merge can use the shared mailbox as the default/sending account.
