This article covers what numbers to dial if you are calling internal or external numbers on your campus landline.

## Emergency (Fire, Medical, Police)

Dial 911. 

> ❌ If you dial emergency by mistake, *stay on the line* to notify the dispatcher that you do not have an emergency.

## On-Campus Calls

For *(860) 427-xxxx* and *(860) 486-xxxx* numbers,

- Dial 7 + 4-Digit Extension Number
- Dial 6 + 4-Digit Extension Number

## Local

Dial 8 + 860 + 7-digit number. 

> ⚠️ The Storrs local/free dialing area is limited.

### Toll-Free Calls

Dial 8 + 1 + 10-digit toll-free number.

> ℹ️ Toll-free exchanges include 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, and 833.

### Long-Distance and International Calls

<span style="color: #000000">Dial 8 + the calling card number. Follow the instructions on your calling card. </span>

## Directory Assistance

> ⚠️ Charges may apply.

**Connecticut Information**

<span style="color: #000000">Dial 8 + calling card number +411. </span>

**Out of State Information**

Dial 8 + the calling card number and follow the instructions on your calling card + Area Code + 555-1212. 

**International Directory Assistance**

Dial 8 + your calling card number 0, 0. 

**Operator Assisted Calls**

Dial 8 + 0 + area code + 7-digit number. 

**Campus Information**  
Dial 0.
