It also lists the applications that were deprecated in macOS Catalina and how their features were replaced. Applications are the collection of prepackaged and user-installed programs that Macs utilize. Applications include programs that help the user do everyday things, like surfing the web, sending mail and messages, and organizing their calendar. ## Applications Included in macOS ### App Store The Mac App Store offers many different apps to browse through and purchase. Every new app installed only takes one step before going right to **Launchpad**. You can enable automatic updates. ![Image result for macos app store icon]() ### Automator The Automator application allows you to create your own workflow for almost anything. You can interact with other Mac applications, and the possibilities are quite numerous. You can combine images, songs, PowerPoints, and emails into one convenient workflow. You can create separate calendars for work, home, or school. The inspector lets you add a location to your event and suggests locations as you type while providing a map and the weather forecast. You can see all of your calendars in a single window or choose to see only the calendars you want. Calendar also works with iCloud, Yahoo, and Google. ![Image result for macos calendar icon]() ### Contacts Contacts is a place to store information for everyone you know. It is very easy to import names, numbers, addresses, and photos from other applications like LinkedIn and Facebook. ![Contacts icon](media://17b981b5-73de-4773-b6f4-322642303b73) ### Dashboard Dashboard previously provided an overlay with a set of widgets that could display weather, provide quick computation, stock prices, and more. These features have been transferred to the macOS Notification Center in a different widget system. ![Image result for mac os dashboard logo]() ### FaceTime FaceTime is an application that lets you make video calls from your macOS or iOS device. Find a specific person by typing their name, email address, or phone number to start a call. FaceTime calls can be made from Contacts, Messages, or Spotlight. Even when FaceTime isn’t open, you can still receive calls. ![Image result for macos facetime icon]() ### Find My (macOS 10.15+) **Find My** combines the features of the** Find My iPhone** web app and the **Find My Friends** app on iOS. Finder lets you browse apps, disks, files, and folders in a variety of ways. You can use Finder to organize items the way you want them, search for items, delete files you no longer want, and more. ![Image result for macos finder icon]() ### GarageBand Creating music on your Mac with Garageband is easy and fun. The application gives you a collection of amps and stomp-boxes and a sound library of instruments and loops. ![Image result for macos garageband icon]() ### iBooks With iBooks, you can download and read everything from classic novels to the latest page-turners. Running the program is easy and intuitive. Pages can be turned with a swipe and zoomed with a pinch. When you take notes or highlight passages on your Mac, iCloud pushes them to all your devices automatically. ![iBooks image icon.]() ### Photos Photos allows you to keep photos organized and easy to find. It allows you to set up many email services, such as iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and Microsoft Exchange, to access all email in one place. Mail can also be configured as a default RSS feed reader and To-Do manager. ![Image result for macos mail logo]() ### Maps With Maps, you can look up directions and send them to your iPhone for voice navigation. Your bookmarks and recent searches are automatically pushed to your iOS devices. You can do a bird’s eye view of all the open windows and apps on your Mac by clicking on the app or with a three-finger swipe up on the touchpad. ![Image result for macos mission control logo]() ### Notes You can use the Notes application to enter and organize notes and email notes through iCloud Mail. iCloud keeps the Notes synchronized across your devices. ![Image result for macos notes logo]() ### Numbers Numbers helps you make spreadsheets more visually appealing and easier to understand. Pages has tools that allow you to add a picture, shape, or interactive chart. Pages includes Apple-designed templates, pre-set styling options, intelligent word wrap, and more. ![Image result for macos pages logo]() ### Photo Booth The Photo Booth application is used to take snapshots or to make short videos on your Mac. You can easily share what you shoot directly to Facebook and Twitter.  ![Image result for macos photobooth logo]() ### Preview Preview is Apple’s all-purpose file reader. Preview can also serve as a markup tool and a free PDF Editor. Preview is the default viewer for a number of file types. Below is a list of all the common file formats that are compatible with Preview. It also has image editing features built-in in its most basic forms. #### Compatible Formats Compatible formats include: - `BMP` - `GIF` - `ICNS` - `ICO` - `JPEG 2000` - `JPEG` - `PSD` - `PDF` - `PNG` - `RAW` - `TAG` - `TIF` ### Reminders With Reminders, you can make different lists of reminders, choose a date and time and add a note to the reminder. ![Image result for macos reminders logo]() ### Safari Safari is the web browser packaged with all Macs and iOS devices. ![Image result for macos safari logo]() ### Time Machine Time Machine is an automated backup system packaged with all Macs. The application can be set to back up to external HDDs, internal secondary HDDs, and network storage drives (i.e., Time Capsules, hard drives connected to Apple Routers, etc.). The Time Machine application allows you to see the previous versions of files to restore accidental deletions and other lost versions of files.
