This article is intended for faculty, staff, and student workers that use the email and calendaring application Microsoft Outlook. This article contains instructions on setting up and using its basic features. Student workers log in with their netidwork@uconn.edu and password. Faculty and staff log in with their firstname.lastname@uconn.edu and NetID password.

## Using Mail 

- Outlook and Apple Mail serve as desktop clients for email.

## Using Calendar 

- Outlook has a built-in calendar feature that allows you to create a calendar and share it or view other calendars that are shared with you.

## Using Contacts 

- Contacts allows you to keep track of all of the people you need to communicate with.
- You can also view the Global Address Book to see everyone in the same organization.

## Changing Time Zone in Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016

1. Click the **File **tab.
2. Click **Options.**
3. Click on the **Calendar **tab on the left, and under **Time Zones**, enter a name for your current time zone in the “**Label**”** **box.
4. In the **Time Zone **drop-down, select your desired time zone.

## Changing Language in Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016

1. Click the **File **tab.
2. Click the **Options** tab.
3. Click the **Language** tab on the left.  Under “Choose Display and Help Languages,” select a language in the “display language” box.
4. Click **Set as Default.**
5. Click **OK**, and click **OK** again when prompted to restart Outlook.

## Changing the Number of Lines Displayed in the Reading Preview Pane (Outlook 2013, 2016)

1. Click the **View** tab.
2. Click **Message Preview.**
3. Select the number of lines you wish displayed (1, 2, or 3).
  1. You can also select **Off** if you don't want to use the reading preview pane.
