It provides users with full and secure access to university and internet resources. Only active members of the UConn community (students, staff, faculty, etc.) can connect to UCONN-SECURE. All other users should connect to [UCONN-GUEST](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10726900346). > ℹ️ **Troubleshooting tip:** If you are unable to log into UCONN-SECURE with your NetID and NetID password, your password may be out of sync. Check it at [https://netid.uconn.edu/tools/test_password.php](https://netid.uconn.edu/tools/test_password.php). If it is out of sync for any service, reset your password at [https://netid.uconn.edu/](https://netid.uconn.edu/). Then try to log into UCONN-SECURE again using your new NetID password. > ℹ️ > ℹ️ Reminder: If you have changed your NetID password since connecting to UConn-Secure, you will need to update those saved credentials in order to reconnect. Android 1. Open the **App Tray **by swiping up on your screen. 2. Open the **Settings **app. 3. Select **Network & internet** 4. Select **Internet**. 5. Select **UCONN-SECURE **from the list of available WiFi networks. 6. For CA certificate, select **Don't validate**. 1. If **Don’t Validate** is not an option, select **Use System Certificates**, and in the **Online Certificate Status** field that appears, select **Do not verify**. 7. If prompted for a domain, enter **uconn.edu**. 8. If prompted for an anonymous identity, **leave it blank**; remove the word “anonymous” if it is automatically entered. 9. Leave the other settings as-is. Enter your NetID in the **Identity** section. Enter your NetID password in the **Password** section. *(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section and not just your NetID.)* 10. Press **Connect**. 11. Your device will obtain an IP address automatically.
Chromebook > ❌ Chromebooks are not officially supported on the UConn Network. ITS cannot guarantee that they will successfully connect and cannot provide support. 1. Under initial setup, you will be asked to **Connect to Network**. 2. Choose **Other Wi-Fi Network…** 3. Select **UCONN-SECURE.** 4. Enter the following credentials. 1. **SSID:** UCONN-SECURE. 2. **Security:** PEAP. 3. **Phase 2 Authentication:** Automatic. 4. **Server Certificate**: Do not check. 5. **Identity:** NetID. *(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section and not just your NetID.)* 6. **Password:** NetID Password. 7. **Anonymous identity:** Leave blank. 5. Click **Connect.** ## Managing wireless networks ### Adding UCONN-SECURE as another network 1. Click the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your computer's screen with the Wi-Fi and battery symbols. 2. Click the **Wi-Fi **symbol. 3. Turn Wi-Fi on by clicking the **toggle switch**. 4. Click **UCONN-SECURE.** 5. Click **Advanced.** 6. Enter the following credentials for UCONN-SECURE: 1. **SSID:** UCONN-SECURE. 2. **EAP Method:** PEAP. 3. **Phase 2 Authentication:** Automatic. 4. **Server Certificate:** Do not check. 5. **Identity:** NetID. *(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section and not just your NetID.)* 6. **Password:** NetID Password. 7. **Anonymous identity:** Leave blank. 7. Make sure **Save identify and password **and **Allow other users of this device to use this network **are turned on. 8. Click **Connect.**
iOS > ℹ️ To connect to UCONN-SECURE, you must be running iOS/iPadOS 16 (released in 2022) or newer. Anything older may fail to authenticate, and you will be unable to connect. ITS recommends updating the operating system of your iOS/iPadOS device if you are experiencing connection issues. 1. Open the **Settings app.** 2. Go to **Wi-Fi **settings. 3. Turn Wi-Fi on by clicking the **toggle switch**. 4. The device will search for networks and show a list of available networks. Select **UCONN-SECURE.** 5. Enter your NetID for the username and your NetID password and click **Join. ***(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section and not just your NetID.)* 6. UCONN-SECURE’s security certificate will appear. Click **Trust **to continue. It will say **Not Trusted**; this is normal. 7. The **Trust **button will disappear after selected. This may take a short while, so be patient. After this process is complete, you will be taken back to the Wi-Fi networks screen, and you will successfully be connected to UCONN-SECURE.
macOS > ℹ️ To connect to UCONN-SECURE, Macs must be running at least macOS 13 (Monterey) or newer. Anything older may fail to authenticate, and you will be unable to connect. ITS recommends [updating the operating system of your Mac device](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10731881369) if you are experiencing connection issues. 1. Open **Network Preferences **by clicking the **Wi-Fi button** on the right side of the top menu. 2. Click **Turn Wi-Fi On**. 3. Click **Advanced.** 4. Click **+** to add a new network. A window will slide down. Fill in the following information and hit **OK**. - **Network Name**: UCONN-SECURE. - **Security**: WPA3-Enterprise. - **Mode: **Automatic. - **Username: **NetID *(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section)* - **Password:** NetID password. 5. UCONN-SECURE will be added to the network list. Click **OK. **Click **Apply.** 6. UCONN-SECURE will authenticate and connect to the internet.
Ubuntu / Linux Instructions will vary depending on your distro. These instructions are for Ubuntu 25.04. 1. Click on the icons on the top right. 2. Select the ▶️ icon next to **Wi-Fi **to expand the network list. 3. Click **All Networks**. 4. Select **UCONN-SECURE**. 5. Enter your NetID and password. Settings should auto-populate. If the settings do not auto-populate, use the following: - **Security:** WPA3 Enterprise - **Authentication: **Protected EAP (PEAP) - **CA Certificate: **Check “No CA certificate is required” - **PEAP Version:** Automatic - **Inner Authentication: **MSCHAPv2 - **Username:** NetID *(If connecting to eduroam, enter @uconn.edu)* - **Password: **NetID password 6. Click **Connect**.
Windows 1. Click on the **Wi-Fi **symbol in the lower right-hand corner of your screen. 2. Click **UCONN-SECURE**, and then click **Connect**. 3. Enter your NetID for the username and your NetID password and click **Connect. ***(If connecting to eduroam, enter **[NetID@uconn.edu](mailto:NetID@uconn.edu)** in the Identity section and not just your NetID.)* 4. Click **Connect** again when prompted to continue connecting.
