Knowledge Base contributors can create a new page and place it in the proper location in the page tree.

Pages in Confluence have a parent/child relationship. Any pages under a parent are considered its children. For an explanation of what parents and child pages are, see [Parent and Child Pages](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IKB/pages/10726899803)

## Adding a Child Page

If you are writing an article that should go under a parent article, you can do so by either (1) creating a page as a child page, or (2) creating a page and later moving it to the correct location. 

### Creating a Page as a Child Page

1. Navigate to the article that should be the "parent" to the article you wish to add.
2. Select the **ellipses** next to the "Create" button at the top left of the Confluence window. The new article will be added under the parent page.

By default, the page you create will be the child of the page you are viewing.

### Creating a Page and Later Moving it to the Correct Location

> ⚠️ You can create your page starting from anywhere on the ITS Knowledge Base space.

1. Create your page by clicking the **ellipses** next to the "Create" button at the top left of the Confluence window. You can be on any part of the space; you do not have to be on the page that you want to be the parent page.
2. Once you have created your page by following the guidelines provided in [Using Confluence for the IT Knowledge Base](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=ikb&title=Using%20Confluence%20for%20the%20IT%20Knowledge%20Base&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=10726899807), select **Space Tools** in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
3. Select **Content Tools. **
4. Select** Reorder Pages.**
5. Expand the page tree until you can see the pages you want to be the child and parent pages.
6. Click and hold the child page.
7. Drag the child page next to its desired parent page.
8. Release the page. Your article should now be under the correct parent page.
