This KB article will explain how to create a Contract Record in Contracts+

## \uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

1. After approving the contract, the contract specialist will be presented with a light blue banner at the top of their HB screen. You can click the “Request Actions” dropdown to create the contract.

2. Enter the contract name and select a [contract type](https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FPB/pages/27753578547/Understanding+Contract+Types?atlOrigin=eyJpIjoiYzUwM2U3MDZiYTc1NGVmMTlmYmFjZjJkNmE2NTA3YWUiLCJwIjoiYyJ9) by clicking the magnifying glass. Depending on which contract type is selected, a few more options will appear.
  1. “Use Contract Template” should be set to Yes in most cases, and the appropriate contract template should be selected. A Contract Template provides default settings for the contract record/file. These settings will reduce manual data entry for contracting.
  2. Associated with contract templates are Main Document Templates. Main Document Templates are templated contracting documents which have been pre-loaded into Contracts+. A main document template can be selected, but it is not required. This template document will populate data fields from the contract file to assist in drafting. Alternatively, a contract specialist can upload a different document which will become the Main Document.
  3. Workgroup should be set to whichever category team will manage the contract. (typically the contract requestor will have already selected the appropriate team, but double check to make sure).
  4. Click “Create Contract” in the bottom right to create the contract.

> ℹ️ Note: When creating a contract, the Contract Specialist should look at the attachments to determine which they want to import into the new contract record.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If this step is forgotten, the contract specialist can always navigate to the upper left of the screen of the draft contract record to find the request number which contains the attachments.
