In procurement, **commodity codes** are used to classify and organize goods and services in a standardized way. Think of them as the DNA of purchasing—they help institutions like universities, governments, and corporations make sense of what they’re buying, how often, and from whom. 

Procurement requires the use of commodity codes on each line of your requisition and purchase order in HuskyBuy. Below are Procurement categories with definitions and and sample uses. Please read through and utilize the best suited commodity code for your purchase.
